Christian De Rezendes

Christian de Rezendes has directed, photographed and edited independently produced features, shorts and documentaries for over a decade. Originally from northern Rhode Island, he studied Theatre at Dean College (Franklin, MA) and Roger Williams University's London Program. He later moved on to Film and Film History at NYU and Rhode Island College, where he graduated with a BA in 2000.

His first completed film, "Branches '93" (1996), received a Certificate of Merit from the Chicago International Film Festival, and his next documentary, "Alzira's Story" (2000), won the Silver at Worldfest-Houston and was later aired on Rhode Island PBS. His feature directorial debut, "Getting Out of Rhode Island" (2002), won Best Feature and Best Director at the Black Point Film Festival (Lake Geneva, WI) and is currently distributed by Film Threat DVD. The film was named a "masterpiece" and was selected as the "Best Unseen Film of 2002" by Film Threat critic Phil Hall. Christian directed, produced, shot and edited these films.

He has also worked in collaboration as Director of Photography and/or Editor with other directors such as Gary Shore ("First Movement Form," "Ode") and Dawn Radican ("Extra Credit"). His most recently completed effort "41" (2007) is Christian's first film as Co-Director in collaboration with Christian O'Neill.

Christian's company Breaking Branches Pictures has also provided uniquely styled wedding, concert and corporate videography since its establishment in 1996. He currently resides in Brooklyn, New York.
