Iris Ivette Watkins is 17
years old junior at Sacred Heart High
School, in Waterbury CT. She resides with
her family in Wolcott. Her interests include
dancing, cheerleading, acting, singing, and
being with her family and friends. Iris is
an honor student and also Secretary of her
school's International Club.
Iris has been volunteering at
the Department of Children & Family for more
than eight years. She helps assemble
backpacks, Easter baskets, and Christmas
presents for foster children as well as
children in need. She is an active member at
her church where she assists in preparing
the second grade students for Holy
Communion.
Iris has been dancing since
the age of three at CT Dance Theater and the
Arts in Prospect, CT. She studies tap, jazz,
and ballet under the direction of Nefra
Sullivan-Whibey. Iris is also a member of
the Connecticut Dance Theatre and the Arts
competition team from which she has received
numerous awards and scholarships. Iris was
the recipient of The Susan B. Sullivan
Scholarship for excellence in dance in 2007.
She has been actively
involved in cheerleading since the age of
five. Recently, Iris began participating in
local plays. In her spare time she enjoys
baking and hanging out with her friends and
family.
Iris's future ambitions are
to graduate with honors from high school and
college, but her ultimate desire is to dance
on Broadway and own a dance studio in New
York City.
